Portrait #3: Desperately Beautiful, Chaotically Impaired
Desperately Beautiful, Chaotically Impaired
8.5" X 11"
gouache on paper with poetry
Inspiration : A piece created for my entrance into art school. For a long time, it served as my creative reminder.
If you don't jump,
if you don't run,
the bus will hit you --
you've waited too long -- waited a day more than you've been given --
a decade ago, I wrote it down -- realized my life had extraordinary intentions
wrote poems upon poems to myself begging my soul to BEGIN --
begin living my dreams -- living my potential.
cloaked fear then intruded and reminded me my confidence was low --
confused my talents and left me BLEEDING into mediocrity.
a decade since I've been in my car -- windows rolled up tightly --
singing along to the radio while hoping no one driving by
would catch a GLIMPSE.
a decade gone now -- it's time to step on the stage --
into the lights --
into the skin
given me by
and LIFE FORMS
aren't only watching --
they're giving me
a platform --
when I climb atop,
what will I have to SAY?
